Privacy Policy
This policy describes how the Podivio iOS app (“Podivio”, “the app”) handles information. Podivio does not require an account and does not show ads or sell personal data.
Who we are
Podivio is developed by Dmitry Orlov. Contact: orlov.dmtr@gmail.com.
What the app stores on your device
The following stays on your iPhone or iPad unless you turn on iCloud Sync:
- Podcast subscriptions (RSS feeds you add)
- Episode metadata, playback progress, favorites, categories, and notes
- Downloaded audio/video files you choose to save offline
- App preferences such as appearance and list sort order
Downloaded media is stored only on the device. It is never uploaded to Podivio servers.
Search and catalog
When you search for podcasts or view trending shows, the search text and a language code are sent to the Podivio API (hosted on Cloudflare Workers). The API looks up publicly available podcast listings through Podcast Index. Podivio does not host podcast audio or video. Playback and downloads use the publisher’s own RSS feed and media URLs.
Cloudflare may process technical request data such as IP address, date/time, and user agent as part of operating the API. Catalog lookup results may be cached for up to 24 hours to reduce load on Podcast Index.
iCloud Sync (optional)
If you enable iCloud Sync in Settings, library data (feeds, episode metadata, favorites, categories, and notes) is stored in your personal iCloud using Apple CloudKit. Downloaded media files are not synced. Apple processes this data under Apple’s privacy policy. You can turn sync off at any time in the app.
On-device transcription
If you transcribe an episode into a note, speech-to-text runs on the device using Apple’s on-device Speech APIs. Audio is not sent to Podivio for transcription. The microphone is not used.
What we do not collect
- No advertising identifiers and no App Tracking Transparency tracking
- No analytics SDKs, crash reporters, or third-party ads
- No account, email, or name inside the app (unless you email support yourself)
Third parties
- Apple — App Store, iCloud/CloudKit if you enable sync, on-device Speech
- Cloudflare — hosting the Podivio search API
- Podcast Index — podcast catalog search and trending lists
- Podcast publishers — RSS feeds and media files you subscribe to or play
Those parties handle data under their own policies. Podivio asks them to protect it in line with this policy to the extent the service allows.
Retention and deletion
Data on the device is deleted when you delete the app, except for iCloud copies if sync was enabled.
To remove iCloud library data: iOS Settings → [your name] → iCloud → Saved to iCloud / Manage Account Storage → Podivio → Delete Data from iCloud. Then delete the app if you also want the local copy gone.
Search requests on the API are not used to build a user profile. Cached catalog responses expire within 24 hours. Cloudflare operational logs follow Cloudflare’s retention practices.
To ask us to delete information you sent by email, contact orlov.dmtr@gmail.com.
Children
Podivio is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes
If this policy changes, the updated text will be published at this URL with a new effective date.
Catalog listings are provided via Podcast Index. Podivio is not affiliated with Apple Podcasts.
